I’m tapped out!

I stared at the computer screen this morning with my fingers on the keyboard for what seemed like an hour but was really just a couple of minutes and realized I had nothing to say.  Since mid-March I have devoted all but a few of these daily segments to some aspect of the coronavirus pandemic and today it just hit me I’m physically and mentally spent.

As many of you likely know our office building in downtown Toms River has basically been closed for the past two months with the exception of some of our on-air staff and a couple of others.  I’m among those “couple of others” and every weekday since I’ve arrived around 4 a.m. to do the varied things I do as part of my position at Townsquare Media.

I won’t bore you with the details but I keep myself more than busy and usually leave the office around 3 o’clock in the afternoon.  If you’re counting that’s an 11-hour day which frankly is less than what I usually put in during “normal times.”

There are no sporting events for me to attend and cover and I don’t think I have done anything work related at night in the past two months.  I’ve been home for dinner every night, have had a chance to watch TV with my wife and daughter regularly and even been able to spend some time reading.

Yet I feel beat-up like I can’t remember, leaving here every day like I just got done sparring with Frankie Edgar. At least I still have a sense of humor.

I’m sure I am not alone and many of you have similar feelings.  It’s likely the uncertainty of what the present is and more concerning what the future will be in so many ways.  Sorry for the downer but that’s all I have today.  I’ll try and do better tomorrow.

STAY HEALTHY MY FRIENDS!
