A 14-year old Brick teenager is being charged with murder following his arrest for stabbing a 38-year old man and leaving him for dead.

Ocean County County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Brick Police Chief James Riccio issued a joint statement Sunday morning announcing the arrest for the murder that occurred on Saturday afternoon.

The juvenile is also being charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and is currently being detained in the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center.

Brick Police responded to a residence around 2:45 pm Saturday in reference to a 911 call for an apparent stabbing.

Officers then found a man with a stab wound to the right side of his abdomen.

The victim, identified as Mohammed Khater of Brick, was brought to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he passed away from his injuries.

Prosecutor Billhimer explained that because the suspect arrested is a juvenile, state law prohibits the release of any additional information, including his name.
