Ocean County Prosecutors have identified the shooting victim in the Monday night murder as 30-year old Steven E. Stallworth of Brick Township.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner has officially ruled the manner of death a homicide.

The investigation into the fatal shooting of Stallworth continues.

The investigation continues into the shooting death of a Brick Township man at the Hampton Garden apartments on James Street in Toms River Monday night.

The 30-year old was found unresponsive by responding officers and EMS crews outside of building "d" suffering from a gunshot wound around 9:20 pm Monday, according to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Tuesday morning.

He was pronounced dead just over an hour later at the scene at 10:34 pm.

Police officers immediately secured the scene and contacted the Ocean County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Unit and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department C.I.U. to respond.

An autopsy is being conducted this morning to determine the cause and manner of death, OCPO Spokesman Al Della Fave said.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and more information will be released when the probe is over.
