A 68-year old Bayville man who was last seen on Monday and subsequently reported missing was found Wednesday morning in the waters off of Ortley Beach.

Berkeley Township Police responded to a Seabright Avenue home on Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 pm for a report of a missing person.

The home is located on the Toms River waterfront at the Barnegat Bay.

Police say that it was likely the 68-year old male may have fallen into the bay.

As a result of this report, police began a comprehensive search.

This was done on both land and in the water.

This morning around 7:20 am the victim was located deceased in the waters off of Ortley Beach.

The preliminary investigation shows no signs of foul play.

Berkeley Township Police Detective Lieutenant Peter La Rocca tells WOBM News that they are withholding the name until they notify the next of kin.

Participating units included the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau, The Berkeley Township Patrol Division, The Berkeley Township Marine Unit, New Jersey State Police Marine Unit, New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit , The Ocean County Prosecutors Office, The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Drone Unit , The Ocean County Sheriffs’ s Department Mobile Command Unit, The New Jersey State Park Police, The Ocean Gate Police Department, The Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue Unit, The Pinewald-Pioneer Fire Department, The Bayville Fire Department and the Manitou Park Fire Department .

This included marine assets as well as rescue divers.
