COLTS NECK — A barricade situation that closed a portion of a major local Monmouth County road for much of the day was brought to a peaceful end on Tuesday afternoon.

The situation ended just before 3 p.m. without any injuries, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Chris Swendeman, who did not disclosed any details about the incident.

Route 537 was closed in both directions near Dorbrook Recreation Area with a large police presence responding to the situation, including the county Emergency Response Team, according to

Colts Neck police and several departments from surrounding towns have also responded.

Dorbrook Park, a county park along Route 537 near the barricade scene, at first canceled all programs and camps until noon and then for the rest of the day when the standoff continued into the afternoon.

Route 537 is an east/west road between Tinton Falls and Jackson and crosses Route 34 in Colts Neck.
