Barnegat man dealt heroin-fentanyl combo that killed a woman, prosecutors say

A Barnegat man has been arrested for allegedly providing the combination of heroin and fentanyl that killed a woman in Point Pleasant Borough, announced Ocean County Prosecutors Bradley Billhimer.

On January 10, 2019, officers from the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department were dispatched to a local residence for a report of an unresponsive female who had to be transported to Ocean Medical Center where she passed away two days later.

An investigation revealed that 33-year old Curtis Geathers was the supplier of heroin and fentanyl that was sold to the woman on January 10.

A toxicology report confirmed that the heroin and fentanyl supplied by Geathers matched the heroin and fentanyl located in the victim’s system, which was also the cause of her death.

Geathers was arrested this week by Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and Narcotics Strike Force, as well as Detectives from the Berkeley Township Police Department, and charged with Strict Liability Drug Induced Death in violation of N.J.S.A.2C:35-9a.

He was taken to the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department for processing and then transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is currently lodged pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer praised the collaborative efforts of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Narcotics Strike Force, Point Pleasant Police Department and Berkeley Township Police Department.
