Awkward Moment At The Fast Food Drive Thru

I got off the air yesterday and I was in the mood for an Egg McMuffin. Actually I get off the air every day and I’m in the mood for one, but yesterday I was going to do something about it. I had some things to do right away after the show, but no big deal. In my mind, I knew I had until 11am.

Before I knew it, I checked my phone and it was 10:45. I dropped everything and peeled out of the parking lot with only minutes to spare. I pulled in and saw no one on line at the drive thru. I was just going to make it!

The familiar “Can I help you?’ came out of the speaker. “Absolutely!” I said, “I’ll have a hot delicious Egg McMuffin.” “Sir we’re serving lunch now.”

I sat there speechless, mouth open, a tear welling in my right eye. I looked at the clock in the car… 10:57. I checked my phone…10:57. The silence was broken by the speaker. “Sir..sir?”. ”It’s 10:57.” I said. “Yes is it” she said. “Can I take your order?” I was confused and upset. I wasn’t thinking straight. I did the only thing I could think of. I slammed on the gas pedal and tore out of there!

To add to my embarrassment, I needed to make a left, but you couldn’t make one out of there, so I had to make a right, turn around and drive past again. Not my smoothest moment. You know what they say, breakfast is the most embarrassing meal of the day.
