ATLANTIC CITY — After a call from a person police describe as a "concerned citizen," an officer has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

Officer Dayton Brown, 44, was arrested after authorities received a call that the woman was being treated at a local hospital. Police then interviewed the woman, who told them the incident happened in Galloway. According to the Atlantic City Police Department, the woman suffered "non-life threatening injuries."

Brown, a 10-year veteran in Atlantic City, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He has been suspended without pay.
