Asbury Park man receives 2.5 year sentence for unlawfully possession a firearm
An Asbury Park man will spend nearly 2.5 years (33 months) in prison for being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced on Tuesday.
Natquan T. Johnson, 26, found himself in trouble again after pictures of him with a gun surfaced on social media which caught the attention of Asbury Park Police and Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Detectives in July of 2019.
During a consensual search of the residence, they located the firearm, a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.
Before his Tuesday sentencing in Trenton Federal Court, Johnson plead guilty to an indictment charging him with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
In addition to prison time, Johnson will be under three years of supervised release.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ian D. Brater of the Criminal Division in Trenton.
