The weekend arrives at the Jersey Shore and you know there’s going to be fun, laughter and a little adult beverage consumption. Go us!
This weekend I was in the mood to try something I hadn’t tried before, and since I was fresh off our Friday morning Asbury Park broadcast, one particular bottle caught my eye as I browsed the local liquor store. There it was, a sharp looking bottle of bourbon from the Asbury Park Distilling Co.. My choice was made.

Now, I like my bourbon, and I’ve tried many different brands. But let me tell you right up front, I’m no expert. You won’t hear words like woodsy or leathery from me. But I’m pretty good at determining if I like it originally don’t. And I did. I liked it a lot.

The I did a little research and found out that the Asbury Park Distillery is the first one in town since prohibition. And that is pretty cool. I also learned that the bourbon I was enjoying was just the tip of the iceberg on their product list, which also includes gin, vodka and more. And of course you can stop by for a little tasing of your own right in the heart of Asbury Park.

I’m always preaching shop local and buy local. And now I can add drink local to the list. Check out the Asbury Park Distillery’s website for all the info, and pick up a bottle or two the next time you’re at your local liquor store!

To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
