Anytime we talk about signs of summer here at the Jersey shore, we think of the same things. We think of seagulls and hummingbird and countless other birds migrating their way to the Jersey shore. But we hardly ever mention the elusive “summer SUV”.

The summer SUV is only spotted migrating to the shore from May through early September. The way to distinguish it from a regular SUV is the summer SUV, through years of evolution, grows three bicycles and a roof cargo container in summer. Another telltale sign you are witnessing the summer SUV is that it will slow down at every exit of the Parkway.

If you are trying to spot a Summer SUV, the best days are the weekend, usually you can spot a flock on a clear Saturday morning. The summer SUV also displays traits of happiness when travelling southbound and a marked sadness when travelling north.
