In January I announced that as part of their 50th anniversary the Causeway Family of Dealerships was going to “celebrate” in a rather different fashion.

As part of a year-long “50 Golden Acts of Good” campaign the auto dealership in Manahawkin will salute an Ocean County non-profit each month and award them with a $10,000 grant.  This program will culminate in December with the awarding of a new Ford Connect Van.

February’s recipient of this charitable endeavor is Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey, an organization I am well aware of and one that provides a vital service to Ocean County’s seniors.  This is especially important because we have the highest percentage of senior citizens of any county in New Jersey and Caregiver Volunteers provides them with a safety net and a connection to the outside world.

CVCJ is an interfaith non-profit made up of over 1,000 volunteers and among those who served in the past was Causeway President David Wintrode Sr., a longtime supporter.  Volunteers are the backbone on an organization that relies on a staff of just 14 and is headed up by Executive Director Lynette Whiteman who has been with the agency for 16 years.

Simply put their mission is to provide vital assistance to the elderly, elderly disabled, veterans and those who care for them and live in Northern Ocean and Southern Monmouth County and are no longer able to drive.  The goal is always to enable these individuals to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible while living with dignity and joy.

The Causeway Family of Dealerships $10,000 grant will certainly help Caregiver Volunteers continue providing services and there are ways you can help as well.  Obviously donations are always appreciated but you can also donate your time whether it be 5 minutes a week or 5 hours a month.

For 50 years the Causeway Family of Dealerships has been a fixture on Route 72 in Manahawkin and so has been their commitment to the community.  This is just the latest example.
