America's Favorite Pizza Is in a City That Makes No Sense

It's a debate that's as heated as a fresh pie.

What city is home to the best pizza? A new survey gives a most surprising answer.

Travel + Leisure polled its readers to find out where their favorite pizza in America is. New York? Chicago? You're more off than someone who goes in for a job interview after eating a pie covered in anchovies.

The city with the pizza a slice above all others is...Phoenix. Phoenix? Yes, you read that right. A city that you could be forgiven for thinking you might get a good taco instead of a mouth-watering large pepperoni. A city where when the pizza comes out of the oven people can claim, "At least it's a dry heat."

Chicago and New York, the two metropolises most often identified with pizza, took fourth and sixth, respectively.
