A Long Branch man is found guilty by a Monmouth County jury Tuesday for strangling a woman to death in 2015.

Christopher Aparicio-Reyes was convicted of First Degree Murder yesterday in the death of 40-year old Jennifer Pizzuto.

Prosecutors say evidence displayed at trial showed Aparicio-Reyes brutally beating Pizzuto in her face and head inside his room at the Rockwell Avenue home on December 13, 2015 before strangling her to death.

He then tried hiding her body in another room, left the house and sheltered himself at a friends place until Long Branch Police and Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office investigators snuffed out his trail of deceit and arrested him the following morning.

Aparicio-Reyes faces 30 years to life in prison when sentenced May 8 in state prison without parole and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, subject to the provisions of the "No Early Release Act" (NERA) requiring him to serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed before becoming eligible for release on parole.

He would also be under parole supervision for five years following his release from state prison.

Aparicio-Reyes is represented by Michael Wicke and Joshua Hood of Freehold.
