JACKSON — Three medical helicopters were used to hospitalize three drivers and two passengers involved in a serious crash Friday night near Six Flags Great Adventure.

A car traveling west on Route 537 just outside the park's exit drifted into the eastbound lanes around 9:30 p.m., hitting two cars head on, according to State Police spokesman Alejandro Goez.

The driver and two passengers in the westbound car were hospitalized with serious injuries at Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro and Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The driver of one of the eastbound cars was flown to Helene Fuld Medical Center in Trenton, while the other eastbound driver was also taken to JSUMC.

Six Flags spokeswoman Kristin Siebeneicher told New Jersey 101.5 that the medical helicopters all landed at the park's heliport, which is located next to Hurricane Harbor.

Goez did not disclose the identities of anyone involved, but said the drivers were a 23-year-old male, a 22-year-old female and a 17-year-old male. The two passengers were a female, age 24, and a male, age 23 . No charges have been filed in the crash.

The road closed for four hours for investigation and clean up.
