BRICK — Last weekend nine people were arrested outside of a Wawa on various charges in Brick, today the department announced even more arrests at the town's crime hotspot.

On Friday, November 22nd, detectives were conducting operations near the Wawa when they observed a male subject previously known to them as Johnathan Tinik, 48, of Toms River.

Tinik had an active warrant for his arrest out of Monmouth's Ocean Township. Tinik was taken into custody and released.

In a separate incident, detectives observed a vehicle exit the Wawa parking lot onto Brick Blvd. After observing multiple motor vehicle violations, they initiated a traffic stop. With the help of a K-9 officer, who alerted on the vehicle, controlled dangerous substances where found in the vehicle.

Erica Azurak, 34, of Toms River was arrested and charged with the drugs found in the car, and active warrants totaling $2,058.

One of the passengers, Robert Johnson III, 41, of Toms River,  was arrested with eight outstanding warrants out of multiple jurisdictions totaling $146,432.09. Johnson has three charges pending against him, according to the Ocean County Jail including one count of Burglary and two counts of Willful Nonsupport.

A third passenger, Rachel Mulligan, 41, of Jackson was arrested after various prescription medications where found in her possession. She was charged with having Xanax, Alprazolam, and Clonazepam.

Last weekend, police released a laundry list of people charged with various offenses at this location. A total of nine people were arrested on shoplifting, drug, weapons, and other charges.

Officers have beefed up patrols in the area around the Wawa on Brick Boulevard because of the rapid increase in criminal activity in and around the convenience store.

The public is reminded that charges are merely accusations. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
