NEPTUNE CITY — A 3-alarm fire heavily damaged a Jersey Shore home early Monday.

Neptune City Fire Chief John Mascarelli  told News 12 New Jersey the fire started around 5 a.m. on the home on Atkins Avenue, where at least two families were living. All family members are accounted for.

The American Red Cross helped five members of two families affected by the fire with emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food and clothing, according to spokeswoman Diane Concannon.

Some siding on the house next door was damaged, acccording to Mascarelli.

Mascarelli said the home is likely uninhabitable and an investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshall continued into the cause of the fire.

Neptune Township and several other communities provided mutual aid, according to Mascarelli.
