With the recent passing of baseball legend Yogi Berra there has been a lot said and written about concerning his famous quotes or as they are often referred to, “Yogi-isms.”  Seems about half of what he is credited with saying are true although even those might have been embellished over the years.

Many were originally disclosed by boyhood friend and former player Joe Garagiola, a baseball broadcaster and TV personality for many years who would quote Yogi often.  The most famous “Yogi-ism” is probably “It ain’t over till it’s over” and there’s no proof he ever said that although when he managed the Mets he did say, “you’re not out until you’re out” in talking about their chances to win a division title.

As for “it’s déjà vu all over again” Yogi reportedly told a writer he never said this but later on did take credit for it.  It does seem like he originated “90% of the game is half mental”, “When you come to a fork in the road take it” and my personal favorite when talking about a restaurant, ”Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.” One thing we know for sure:  Yogi was loved by 100% of most baseball fans.  Get it?

There was no jackpot winner in the multi-state Powerball last night but someone in New Jersey is holding one of four tickets worth $1 million for having all five regular numbers without that Powerball number to the right.

About 30 of us here at Townsquare Media went in on a lottery pool which meant part of Wednesday’s around-the-office chatter centered on what people would do if we won. That conversation is now over.  We’ll collect a few bucks for our total investment of $370 and roll that over into Saturday’s drawing which is now worth an estimated $267 million.  Remember you have to be in it to win it.

We often associate with getting scared as part of Halloween so this is a good time to question what scares men the most.  A recent survey at Chapman University over Americans’ fears found that guys are most worried about going broke and getting sick.
More than 80% named those as their top two fears.

Others ranking high on the list are terrorist attacks, growing old, death, job loss and public speaking.  No mention of the Giants pass defense or the Mets sudden lack of hitting.
