Word of the Day – November 7, 2011

Based on Bob & Marianne's argument this morning regarding puppets, today's Word of the Day defines and compares TWO words:

Puppet -

an artificial figure representing a human being or an animal, manipulated by the hand, rods, wires, etc., as on a miniature stage.

AND

Marionette -

a puppet manipulated from above by strings attached to its jointed limbs.

So there you have it - puppets and marionettes are similar, but are not exactly the same
