Melvin L. McDaniels, 49, was charged January 13 after a search of his home, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi.

Authorities began looking into it in October 2016, based on a tip form the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Investigators, conducting a warrant search, seized a desktop computer and digital storage devices. They claim to have found multiple images and videos illustrating sex between adult men and pre-pubescent girls.

McDaniels faces two second-degree charges of child endangerment, related to distribution, and two third-degree child-endangerment counts, related to possession.

At his January 17 initial appearance, McDaniels was released and ordered to avoid use of the Internet, and avoid contact with juveniles.

New Jersey bail reform laws that took place January 1 eliminates cash bail amounts as an option for detention. Superior Court judges use a list of criteria to determine whether defendants are held or released. A Burlington County grand jury will determine whether the case heads to trial.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
