TRENTON — Two ongoing road projects on major New Jersey highways could cause delays during the weekend.

Only one lane will be open eastbound on the New Jersey Turnpike's Newark Bay/Hudson County Extension heading for Bayonne and Jersey City until 5 a.m. on Monday morning for bridge deck repair.

Although the work takes place in a mile-and-a-half area, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority warned of "severe" traffic impacts during peak travel times.

The road work at Exit 67 from Route 95 North/Route 295 South in Lawrence will shut both the northbound and southbound ramps to Route 1 until 8 p.m. on Saturday night. The work is part of the state Department of Transportation's $4 million project since January.

Saturday's work includes the installation of deck panels and pouring concrete.

The ramps are open during the week with crews continuing their work  behind construction barriers. DOT has not disclosed an expected completion day for the project.

Drivers will be directed to continue on Route 95 North/Route 295 South to Exit 65 for Sloan Avenue, where they can change direction to head north on Route 295 and to exits for both directions of Route 1.

The road projects are both subject to change due to weather conditions.

Plus, NJ Transit riders can expect 30-minute delays in and out of New York Penn Station all weekend due to Amtrak track maintenance.
