A big rally is taking place at the Jersey shore this Friday to show support for the men and women in blue. Over 1,000 police officers and their supporters will be at the Neptune High School Performing Arts Center as part of the first annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D).

"We want to tell the police, the men and women that are giving their lives every single day, we want to let them know that we support them, we believe in them and we want to see them be safe," said event organizer Tara Cunningham of Garden State Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS).

Cunningham said even though we're hearing a lot in the news about New York Mayor Bill De Blasio and the Reverend Al Sharpton, this rally is not about anyone making headlines for their comments about police.

"This is about the men and women who go out everyday, like my sister Detective Tina Rambo, who was killed in the line of duty on August 1st, 2011. They walk out the door. Their families don't know will they come home. And we need to explain and show the men and women who serve us, that we really honor them and their service. That's all this is," explained Cunningham.

Garden State COPS is also asking citizens, town officials and school students etc.. to wear blue this Friday in a show of support.

The LEAD rally takes place at 2 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Neptune Township High School, 55 Neptune Blvd., Neptune Township, NJ 07753.
