Russell Cortese, 66, of Jersey City, took a guilty plea Monday to a first-degree charge of aggravated sexual assault, involving a four-year-old that he knew in Point Pleasant, according to the office of County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

Cortese's sentence will be determined, in part, by results of psychological testing at the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center (Avenel) in Middlesex County.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Ann Linardkis seeks a 15-year prison term, 15-year parole ineligibility, lifetime parole supervision, registration as a sex offender under Megan's Law, and avoidance of contact with the victim under Nicole's Law.

Manuel Ramos, 40, of Newark, was sentenced to seven concurrent years for each of two second-degree sexual assault charges, involving victims he knew, aged seven and eight, in Forked River, between October and December, 2011. The sentence includes lifetime parole supervision, registration under Megan's Law and compliance with Nicole's Law.

Authorities said that Ramos pleaded guilty during his August 2015 trial, after prosecutors had presented their evidence. Avenel evaluators found him not repetitive and compulsive. Prosecutors sought eight years, and defense attorneys asked for six.

Carl Creadle, 47, of Lakewood, was given 15 years on Monday, with 15 years of parole ineligibility, for his pre-indictment guilty plea to a first-degree charge of aggravated sexual assault. The victim in the February 2015 Lakewood was six years of age, and known to Creadle, authorities said.

Creadle was found to be not repetitive and compulsive by Avenel evaluators.
