Monmouth County Prosecutors have released new information regarding the pedestrian crash on Main Street in Keyport Tuesday that critically injured two young children.

Investigators say Debbie Triano, 59, of Keyport was walking with her two young grandchildren on Main Street when they were all hit in the northbound lane by a 2008 black Acura TL driven by Kathy L. Ascolese, 22, of Keyport around 3:12 pm.

The youngest of the two grandchildren was being pushed by his grandmother in a convertible stroller/car seat.

The stroller’s seat became dislodged upon impact with the Acura TL from the stroller’s frame and it became airborne, landing a substantial distance from the initial impact.

All victims, including a minor passenger inside the driver’s vehicle, were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Triano and her two young grandchildren remain hospitalized for their injuries.

The young children are in critical condition with multiple injuries, while Triano remains stable.

Ascolese also remains hospitalized for observation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Keyport Police Department along with the Monmouth County Serious Crash Analysis Response Team (SCART).

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information to assist the investigative team is urged to contact Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Kristian DeVito or Agent Reginald Grant at 800-533-7443, or Keyport Police Department Detective Bureau at 732-264-0706.
