There were two reported car accidents in an eleven minute time frame on Saturday that sent police to different parts of Toms River resulting in multiple combined injuries and tragically one of them was fatal.

Emergency crews and police responded to the corner of New Hampshire Avenue and North Maple Avenue in the North Dover section of the township around 2:55 pm for a serious motor vehicle crash.

Police say Jean Divona, 82-year's old from Toms River, had been traveling north bound in a 2005 Toyota Camry on New Hampshire when a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 33-year old Danny Reed of Toms River was heading south bound.

As Reed was turning left he struck her vehicle head on.

Divona was trapped in her car and was freed by Pleasant Plains and Silverton Fire Companies.

CPR was given in the ambulance, but Divona was later pronounced at Monmouth Medical Center South Campus in Lakewood at 4:11 pm.

The male driver did not appear impaired and consented to blood draw with Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the Toms River Traffic Safety Unit.

This crash remains under investigation by Toms River Traffic Officer Terry Warren.

Around 3:06 pm patrol cars and medical units responded to 75 Brand Road in the Silverton section of the township where a 41-year old Bellville woman allegedly disregarded a stop sign, struck a car and then drove into someones house.

The stop sign the Belleville woman did not stop for in her 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was at the intersection of Brand Road and Maine Street.

A 46-year old woman from Freehold was in a 2013 Toyota Highlander that was hit by the Belleville woman.

There were no significant injuries and the Toms River Building Inspector deemed the Brand Road house to be safe for the residents to remain.

This crash is under investigation by Toms River Police Officer Michael MacDonald.
