Police say 23-year-old William Romanow and 24-year-old Nicholas Lascala were in a Honda Civic Sunday night just before midnight when they lost control on Adamston Road passing another vehicle.

They struck bicyclist Kyle Conroy,23,  of Lanoka Harbor, went airborne after hitting a curb, overturned and hit a tree with roof of the car.

According to Brick Police, the force of the impact caused the front end of the vehicle to split  from the passenger compartment. The front end of the vehicle came to final rest in the westbound lane of travel.  The passenger compartment came to final rest upon striking the tree. Romanow & Lascala were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation but police say excessive speed appears to be a factor.

Conroy was treated for a leg injury at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and released.
