Trucker hurt as rig hurtles off highway in Stafford
While terrified drivers looked on, a fully-loaded tandem dump truck careened out of control in Stafford, sending the driver to hospital care and tying up Route 72 for three hours Wednesday morning.
The incident unfolded at about 9:09 AM. According to police, William Pasco, Jr., of Forked River, endured a medical episode behind the wheel. The rig hit a curb and several signs before coming to rest in a wooded patch near Mill Creek Road.
Pasco sustained a minor injury and was transferred to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin. Police said that they expected him to be released. The truck required towing from the area.
No charges have been filed, police said. They did not identify the company that owns the truck.
