Toms River couple struck by car Friday night

Two pedestrians were struck and injured Friday night on Fischer Boulevard near Lisbon Avenue.

A 22 year old Toms River man was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveling north in the right lane on Fischer Boulevard when he struck a man and woman. The couple, live on Lisbon Avenue and were not crossing at the crosswalk when they were struck. 

Both the man and woman are in their mid 50's and were taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center. The man is stable however the woman has more serious injuries.

There were no indications that the driver was impaired or using a cell phone at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
