Another good reason to check your wireless bill for unauthorized charges - a sales clerk in a third-party Verizon vendor in Toms River is accused of charging cell phone purchases on accounts of unwitting customers, selling them himself and pocketing the cash.

Amir Haidi, 22, of Jackson, was charged by Lakewood police after a probe of several that began with a complaint by two township businessmen. Investigators believe the scam dates back to 2015.

Haidi, an employed of Diamond Wireless, faces municipal charges of forgery and criminal computer activity. He was released after posting $20,000 bail, police said.

Police said the businessmen filed their complaint in January of this year, claiming to have been charged for seven new iPhone 6 models that they never received after visiting the store.

Lakewood PD Detective Michael Cavallo is credtied with tracing the trail that led to Haidi, with the retailer's cooperation.

Lakewood police urge customers to check statements back to last year for unauthorized charges, and to report any unusual activity to headquarters, 732-363-0200.
