While it won’t be officially announced until later today Toms River’s Todd Frazier is headed to San Diego next week to defend his title in Monday’s Home Run Derby as part of the All-Star game festivities.

The Chicago White Sox third baseman would not confirm reports that he’s Derby-bound and before last night’s game against the Yankees would only say “you grow up playing in the backyards and high school fields when you’re younger.  You get an opportunity to play in a big league ballpark, packed house, in front of your peers and it’s exciting.”

Frazier added “I already have one under my belt and I just think it’s a lot of fun.  I bring my family there and have your brother throwing to you.  They get a thrill of a lifetime, this will be the third year now and they love it to.”

Those words set the stage for a Frazier Family invasion of San Diego.  That includes brother Charlie who will once again pitch to Todd and likely brother Jeff who will find a way to get on the field while other family members cheer from the seats at Petco Park.  Of course last year in Cincinnati while a member of the Reds the 30-year old former Toms River South and Rutgers star won the Home Run Derby in front of his then hometown fans.  Some might also forget that in 2014 Todd advanced to the finals of the home run hitting contest before losing to Yoenis Cespedes

Frazier went 1-3 against the Yankees last night and while batting only .211 is second in the American League with 23 home runs and also has 53 RBI’s.  He is in his first season with the White Sox after spending four-plus seasons in Cincinnati before an off-season trade to Chicago.
