One of the most dangerous stretches of Route 9 in Ocean County is now a little safer.

Berkeley Township officials say the new traffic signal at the corner of Route 9 and Frederick Drive will be activated.

It'll be in a yellow blinking pattern for three days, the NJ DOT has informed Berkeley Township officials, it will then become fully operational.

On December 12, 2015 a woman was struck and killed by a car walking along that intersection which resulted in an immediate reaction by Berkeley Township officials to try upgrade safety measures in that area where dozens of accidents have occurred in recent years.
