Some random notes and thoughts on this final day of November:

It is getting harder and harder to watch TV news at the end of a work day because it’s just a series of stories that makes you wonder when did it all get so bad.  At one point last night I just had enough and needed to switch to an old episode of “Greys Anatomy” that I had not yet watched.  More often than not I find escaping from reality is the only way to cope.

Caitlyn Jenner announced this week she has picked a name for her upcoming memoir which is due out on April 17.  “The Secrets of My Life” will chronicle her life from childhood, as Olympic champion Bruce Jenner through her transition to Caitlyn.  That will be $30 I won’t be spending.

The Shore Sports Network will be broadcasting a pair of championship football games on Saturday from Rowan University.  The Wall-Delsea and Toms River North-Millville games can be heard on WOBM AM 1160 and 1310 and will also stream live at shoresportsnetwork.com.  Those are just two of the nine championship games involving Shore Conference teams on Saturday.

The Toms River Country Club will be the site of a holiday shopping event this Sunday from 11am-3pm to benefit two local charities.  Extended Arms, a non-profit charitable fundraising organization, will host the event which will feature over 20 special vendors who will also provide baskets with prizes through raffles. A $10 donation gets you access to the vendors and all proceeds will benefit Ocean’s Harbor House and Contact of Ocean and Monmouth counties.  Extended Arms is a group of 20 working women who raise money for those two charities.
