Car of Whiting 89-year-old woman who drove her car into her house twice (Manchester Police)

It’s not funny but I’m sure some have a least chuckled after hearing about the shorter-then expected car ride taken by an 89-year old Whiting woman Thursday.

The women drove her 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis through her garage and into the laundry room of her home. She then apparently put the car in reverse, backed out and crossed over the street before hitting the patio set of a neighbor.

However that was not the end as she then put her car back into drive, proceeded across the street and drove her car on an angle into her garage where it made contact with her living room.

The good news is she was not injured. The bad news is that she can’t live in her house due to the damage plus she received two tickets and has to undergo a mandatory driver’s re-examination.

It’s not unusual to see people running accompanied by their dogs. Tomorrow you can do that and also help out a good cause during the 5K-9/Bark in the Park event at Harry Wright Lake in Manchester. It’s a 5K, 1 mile walk/run and Kiddie Dash with proceeds to go to the American Rescue Dog and Lakehurst-Manchester Rotary Club. Since it is a dog-friendly event runners and walkers can have their dogs take part as well. The triple-header begins at 9am and there will be all kinds of festivities and fun after the race as well. Longtime Christian Brothers Academy baseball coach Marty Kenney joined a pretty exclusive group Thursday when his Colts beat Middletown South. Kenney became just the fourth high school baseball coach in New Jersey history to collect 700 wins and in his 40^th season he shows no signs of slowing down.

A former player himself at CBA, Kenney’s career record is 700-302. The all-time winningest coach is Toms River South’s Ken Frank, who in his 36^th season has 781 victories. His younger brother Bill is closing in on a milestone of his own as he’s just four wins away from 500 as head coach of the Toms River East Raiders.

The Monmouth University football team will end his spring practice schedule with tomorrow’s annual Blue-White game at Kessler Field. The game will begin at noon but before that there will be a free FanFest beginning at 10am with food, music and games plus you can meet the players and get autographs.
