Even the most optimistic fans of the green and white would have selected the Giants but after last night’s dramatic win in Atlanta it is the Jets who actually have playoff aspirations while the Giants are still searching for their first victory.

It’s rare when a high school football team can go to its bench and pluck a backup quarterback who is good enough to start for just about any other team. That is the scenario at Lacey High School so last week when senior standout Tom Kelly suffered an injury in the first half of a key game against Toms River South all was not lost.

In came junior Conor Davies who has been contributing as a wide receiver while also playing some quarterback. With an undefeated record on the line and trailing at the half Davies turned in a spectacular performance completing 15 of 20 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns as the Lions rallied for the victory.  Conor’s older brother Ryan was a record-breaking quarterback at Howell High School and his father Cory is Lacey’s offensive coordinator after a successful stint as the Howell head coach.
