Today, on the 17th anniversary of 9/11 we all reflect on the events of that horrible day in our own way.

I was honored to be at the 9/11 event Walk With Joe in Manalapan this past Saturday and had the opportunity to speak with many local residents who all had a similar thought about how we emotionally handle this day.

There are wonderful events like Walk With Joe that give local residents the opportunity to be together with their neighbors, and as the years pass, many of us have found our own private way to attempt to deal with the unthinkable.

There have been so many things said over the years to attempt to help us all find some peace, and frankly, in many cases, words will never be enough.

But there are words that to me, ring as true today as they did in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. "We will never forget".

I guess no matter what our personal decisions are regarding how we choose to handle the anniversary of this tragedy, the most important thing is what that simple phrase captures so well.  Just never forget.

Never forget those we lost. Never forget the heroes.
