Suspicious package clears OCC library

TOMS RIVER - An apparently unattended briefcase sets red flags flying and empties the Ocean County College library for the better part of an hour.

The briefcase, according to Toms River police, belonged to a library patron, who left and inadvertently neglected to take it along.

No one knew that at about 10:03 AM, when police responded to the report from the campus.

The package was deemed suspicous, and a banner fronting the Ocean County College web page, advised anyone planning to use the facility to stay clear.

Police said that they tracked down the owner at about 10:45 AM, and that the case contained nothing unusual.
