The panel will hear Monday from Transportation Commissioner Jim Simpson and NJ Transit Executive Director Jim Weinstein.

Assemblyman John Wisniewski of Sayreville, the committee chairman, says the panel will be on a fact-finding mission to hear about what damages occurred, why they occurred and what state officials can do to keep it from happening again.

One matter that will be explored is why rail cars were stored in low-lying areas during the storm. NJ Transit trains sustained about $100 million in damages from storage yard flooding.

Weinstein has said the agency's storage choices were limited.
