Kevin J. Gaskill, 23, of Marlton, was cited for careless driving, said police, who added that he was given first aid at the spot on East Bay Avenue and sought no hospital care.

Investigators surmised that Gaskill lost control of his rig while negotiating a curve at 11:50 AM. The impact split the pole in half and sent the truck skittering on its side, police said.

Atlantic City Electric and Verizon crews were summoned for repairs that lasted about six hours.

Stafford Township's Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer EMS assisted. Patrolman Allen Jillson handles the investigation. Gaskill has been given a date to appear in municipal court.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
