Last week's Bring Change campaign at TD Bank on Lakewood Road in Toms River raised $4,2765.99, say event organizers - and more than half the donations flowed through the branch's coin counter.

In its mission to donate $1 million to worthy causes by the end of 2016, TD Bank used one of its 500 scheduled events to raise awareness of the School for Children with Hidden Intelligence (SCHI) in Lakewood. The sum will be spent to build a special-needs playground on its campus.

The bank had set a $2,000 limit for its match of donations. Donors dropped coins in the counting device throughout Thursday, December 2.

SCHI is a non-profit, accredited institution for teaching children with multiple handicaps, developmental disorders, physical disabilities, Down's syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and other conditions.
