A fight between two brothers in Middle Township ended with one person in stable but critical condition and his sibling facing attempted murder charges.

Middle Township Police say they were out conducting surveillance in Rio Grande last Thursday night when officers noticed two people wrestling next to a SUV in the parking lot of the Rio Grande Fire House. Cops say the two people eventually got into the SUV and drove away. Officers eventually caught-up to the vehicle at Route 47 and Railroad Avenue. As cops approached the intersection, the passenger of the SUV got out and crossed Railroad Avenue. The driver of the SUV then revved the engine, drove across Railroad Avenue, and intentionally struck the passenger.

The driver, 37-year-old Robert Gregory III of Erma, fled the scene but was later found. The victim, 36-year-old Michael Gregory, had multiple injuries and was flown to ARMC-City where he was listed in stable but critical condition.

Robert Gregory III has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, DWI, and other various motor vehicle offenses. Gregory III was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
