There were a lot of "short" jokes aimed at Sonny, and there was a lot of music. THE SONNY & CHER COMEDY HOUR debuted on CBS this very day in 1971. After their marriage fell apart a few years later, each one tried to make it with their own variety shows, but apart - "the beat" just didn't go on. The reruns air regularly on the cable channel GET-TV.
