Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for most of NJ until 7 p.m.

A line of gusty, soaking thunderstorms will make a potentially nasty end to the day, especially for central and southern New Jersey.

Hello, thunderstorms! As of this writing, we are tracking the storms as they cross the Delaware River into western New Jersey. Thanks to our very warm, moist atmosphere, the storms are expected to reach strong to severe limits for most of the Garden State.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7 p.m. for central and southern New Jersey. That includes the following 14 counties: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Salem, and Somerset.

Remember, a Watch means serves as a "heads up" that severe weather is expected to occur. A few more-urgent, more-imminent Warnings have already been issued. Here's our latest list of warnings, watches, and advisories for New Jersey:

The stormy impacts will be brief, but potent. The worst thunderstorms will be capable of producing:
--60 to 70 mph winds
--Torrential rain, potentially leading to flash flooding of low-lying areas
--Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning
--Hail
--Isolated tornadoes

My best advice would be to seek shelter in a sturdy building as these storms pass overhead. They are likely to "sharpen up" as they push through New Jersey from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening.
