Severe T-Storm Watch for all of NJ until 8 p.m.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for SW Morris, Hunterdon, SW Warren and NW Somerset counties until 4:45 p.m. for a storm with 60 mph winds, large hail and damaging winds plus frequent cloud to ground lightning moves

A line of very wet, windy thunderstorms will bring some nasty, potentially dangerous weather to the Garden State Monday evening.

'Tis the season for thunderstorms! As of this writing, scattered thunderstorms have been popping up across North Jersey. Meanwhile, a more organized line of storms is expected to cross over the Delaware River into western New Jersey late Monday afternoon. Thanks to our incredibly humid and very warm atmosphere, the storms are expected to be quite strong for most of the Garden State.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m. for all 21 counties of New Jersey. (Previous, the watch had only included northern and central portions of that state — that has since been expanded southward.)

Remember, a Watch means serves as a "heads up" that severe weather is expected to occur. A more-urgent Warning means severe weather is imminent or already occurring. Here's our latest list of warnings, watches, and advisories for New Jersey:

The stormy impacts will be brief, but potent. The worst thunderstorms will be capable of producing:
--1 to 3+ inches of rain, easily leading to flash flooding of roadways and other low-lying areas
--60 to 70 mph winds
--Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning
--Hail
--Isolated tornado

My best advice would be to seek shelter in a sturdy building as these storms pass overhead. They are likely to pulse down after sunset Monday, before exiting the Garden State around Midnight.
