If you haven't seen the Ocean City Boardwalk lately, you might be surprised to see what it looks like -- or doesn't look like.

Now that the crowds of summer are long gone, crews are back working on a five-year-long facelift of the famous wooden walkway. The rehabilitation project started at 5th Street in the fall of 2013 and will conclude this coming spring at 12th Street.

In a press release, the City of Ocean City says, "The fifth and final phase of a multi-year Ocean City Boardwalk reconstruction project began on Monday, Oct. 16. Contractors will demolish and replace the entire substructure and decking between 10th Street and 12th Street."

And when they say "entire substructure and decking" -- they mean it. A recent trip to Ocean City shows a very unique sight: no boardwalk!

Seeing all of those boardwalk stores without anyway to get to them is quite a sight to see!
