Seven arrested in Lakewood crime sweep
Law enforcement agents from the local to federal levels swoop down on a Lakewood apartment complex, rounding up seven people with outstanding criminal warrants.
Operation Safe Streets unfolded early Wednesday morning at the High Point Apartments, according to information from Ocean County Sheriff Mike Mastronardy.
Arrests took place over a two-hour span. Suspects face charges including theft, drug possession, burglary, forgery, hindering apprehension and endangering the welfare of a child, Mastronardy said.
The drive entailed Sheriff's officers, Lakewood police and tactical paramedics, and agents of the U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, according to Mastronardy.
Following the raid, Sheriff's officers fanned out to surrounding communities, serving 26 child-support warrants totaling more than $300,000.
