Borough officials tell the Asbury Park Press that the Oct. 29 storm resulted in a $230,000 dip in court revenues last year.

A combination of factors contributed to the decrease, including court sessions being cancelled or moved to other facilities and disruptions to the mail system that impacted whether people received notices to appear. Residents and visitors were also kept out of the town for three months, putting a hold on any citations or summonses that may have otherwise been issued.

The newspaper reports that the hefty revenue losses at Seaside Municipal Court may need to be compensated for by other departments or the cost could be shifted to taxpayers.
