The Guardian Angels will join the search for Michael Karwan as concern grows over his well-being and two more possible sightings are reported of the autistic young man.

Rendition of Michael Karwan's appearance after being missing for several days
Rendition of Michael Karwan’s appearance after being missing for several days (Facebook) reports a second sighting in the Hudson Valley at a restaurant in Hillside, New York today that was caught on video. The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Karwan was  given directions to Marlboro, New York when he was at the Port Authority Bus Terminal last week. He was spotted at the Bridgeview Plaza shopping center in Highland, New York which prompted local police to issue an a alert for Karwan.

Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa tells that the Angels will gather at the Dick’s Sporting Goods store on Route 9 in the parking lot of the Freehold Raceway Mall at 7 p.m. Monday night to form one of two searches for the autistic 19-year-old from Marlboro who has been missing since last Tuesday. Sliwa says another search will take place in Manhattan and he expects roughly 100 people to take part in both searches.

Meanwhile, a customer at a diner in Chelsea on  Manhattan’s West Side reports seeing someone matching Michael’s description looking in the window shaking his head early Monday morning. Congressman Michael Grimm (R-Staten Island), a family friend, who led a weekend search, told ABC, “He described his clothes without seeing a picture, and  after seeing a picture, he said that’s absolutely his face.”

Another family friend, Wojtek Iwanczyk, in an email to Townsquare Media describes Michael as being “mild mannered…very police and a true gentleman” despite his having a scruffy beard and 6-foot tall. “He is mild tempered and very nice,” wrote Iwanczyk, and anyone seeing Michael should call 911 while keeping an eye on Michael whose actions and behavior are likely that of a 5-8 year-old.

Grimm (R), a former FBI agent, led a search in Times Square on Saturday night and early Sunday morning in hopes Michael may seek a place to keep warm.

Grimm and the family are also concerned about Michael’s level of behavior.   “Although Michael is high functioning, he is out of his element and obviously very scared, so he may be functioning right now at a 7-year old capacity, so he’s going to be very scared,” Grimm told ABC 7.

A $25,000 reward is being offered by Karwan’s father Walter for information leading to Michael’s safe return.

His mother Teresa says she cannot sleep and is worried about how her son is staying warm. “He didn’t have a heavy jacket or gloves or a scarf” she told Fox 5 New York. “This is not a runaway situation where he planned it.”

Headed For Manhattan?

Grimm told WPIX TV that Karwan boarded a NJ Transit bus bound for the Port Authority  Bus Terminal but was very restless and unsure of himself according to the driver. There are a number of things that could draw him to Manhattan including his father’s office and his favorite comic book store. Michael is a fan of comic books and movies

Friends and neighbors continue to remain positive in their search for Karwan distributing flyers and searching around the Freehold area.

He is 19 years old, 6′ tall, weighing 220 lbs., with brown eyes, and black hair, wearing a black jacket and yellow-green shoelaces on his dark sneakers. He may have a beard as well.

Anyone sighting Michael should call NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or the Marlboro Township Police Department at 732-536-0100.
