SAM MOORE of Sam & Dave Is 82 Today

Born in Florida, Sam Moore began his musical career as a member of the doo wop  group the Majestics. He'd attain fame years later, however, as a member of an energetic duo recording for the legendary Stax/Volt Record labels. That duo, SAM & DAVE scored several major hits including "Hold On I'm Coming," "I Thank You,"  and "Soul  Man." For those records Moore was paired with Dave Prater, and their wild and soulful live performances earned them the nickname "The  Sultans of Sweat." Sadly, Dave is no longer with us, but Sam turns 82 today and shows no signs of stopping. Enjoy a vintage live performance of "Soul Man" below.
