The left and center lanes westbound will be closed into the afternoon between Exit 33 for Route 525 and Exit 29 for Route 287 in order to permanently repair potholes.  The right shoulder will also be used to allow for two travel lanes through that stretch.

The work started at 6 a.m. and was scheduled to take about eight hours to complete, according to state Department of Transportation spokesman Dan Triana.

"There may be some congestion for people going to the Bridgewater Commons mall," Trina said.

The project actually started on Friday afternoon with crews making temporary patches before the afternoon commute and the snow.

Route 22 is a good alternative to avoid potential delays on Route 78 heading into the shopping areas.
