Rock and roll innovator and Hall of Fame inductee CARL PERKINS was born this day in 1932. Even though the song became associated with Elvis Presley, Perkins recorded the original and bigger hit version of "Blue Suede Shoes." Perkins was also part of the Million Dollar Quartet - the inspiration for that wonderful musical revue. Several of his songs ("Matchbox," "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby" and "Honey Don't") were later covered by the Beatles.
